Slinger Signaller

Course Aims 

This course provides thorough theory and practical training in the role of the Slinger Signaller, enabling candidates to competently and safely work around lifting plant, slinging loads and guiding cranes, attach loads and guide lifts as required in order to pass the Theory and Practical tests. 

Course Outcomes 

Upon completion, delegates will receive a Prontoport In House Certificate of Competence. The certification is valid for 3 years. 

Duration:  3-5 days for Novices (Depending on Delegate Numbers) and 1 day for Refresher

Prerequisites  

Delegates must be reasonably fit, both physically and mentally with the learning ability and potential to become competent operators;  

Course Content and Key Activities 

  • Regulations governing slinging operations (HASWA 1974 , LOLER 1998 and PUWER 1998) 

  • Introduction to the controls 

  • Completion of pre-use inspection

  • Identify the correct equipment and accessories for slinging

  • Correct slinging techniques

  • Safe operating practices

  • Controlling hook swing

  • Basic signalling protocols 

  • Basic slinging techniques 

  • Loads and Working load limits 

  • Inspection of lifting equipment 

  • Correct methods of attaching the slings or attachments to load hooks 

  • Signalling techniques for assisted lifting operations 

  • Lifting and lowering procedures
