Properly planned and executed maintenance can dramatically cut operating costs. FACT!
With first-hand knowledge of dealing with the results of poor or inadequate service and maintenance, Prontoport know all too well how expensive main component failures can be to put right. By way of a crude example; quarterly oil sampling and analysis of gearbox oil may cost somewhere in the region of £300 per sample (including drawing sample, performing quick onsite analysis, offsite Tribology and results reporting). This may identify gearbox wear that if dealt with on a planned repair basis may for example cost £10,000 to resolve on a 2MW turbine. Alternatively if left unmonitored and untreated the wear can and will ultimately deteriorate into a catastrophic failure, which when combined with loss of output over several weeks or even months can typically end up costing the owner something more like £75,000 to put right.
The point is pretty simple... a relatively small investment in a structured well managed service and maintenance service by a reputable vendor can easily translate into a saving of hundreds of thousands of pounds across a small to medium size wind farm.
